Veneers are one of the most popular methods to improve the appearance of a smile, especially among celebrities. Many of the Hollywood smiles seen these days beam with the beauty of veneer treatment. Porcelain veneers are translucent, thin laminates specifically made to improve the esthetics of natural teeth, to correct crowding, or to replace composite bonding.

Veneers Frequently Asked Questions

Veneers are an excellent option for any patient looking to hide multiple cosmetic flaws in their smile. For example, if you have multiple teeth that are chipped, stained, and/or misshapen, you can make all of these changes at once with an appropriate number of veneers. That said, your teeth do need to be healthy; it’s never a good idea to cover up decay with a dental restoration without having it treated first. Also, if you grind your teeth at night, it’s important to get a nightguard first to protect your veneers (as well as the rest of your smile).
How Many Veneers Will I Need?

How Do I Take Care of Veneers?
To help your veneers last as long as possible, it’s important to clean them and protect them as if they were natural teeth. Naturally, that means brushing them twice a day for two minutes at a time. Don’t forget to floss in order to remove bacteria from the spots that a toothbrush wouldn’t be able to reach. When you eat, be careful around almonds or other hard foods that might cause your veneers to crack.
When Do Veneers Need to Be Replaced?
A porcelain veneer is very durable and usually lasts for about 10 to 15 years. At some point, though, it will need to be replaced once it becomes worn down. Obviously, you’ll also need a new veneer if the old one becomes broken. Also, if gum recession occurs and exposes the root of your tooth, it’s generally a good idea to get a new restoration that will cover the area. We can evaluate your veneers during your regular checkups in order to decide whether or not they need to be replaced in the near future.
