Halloween is here and Election Day is around the corner, which means that the office parties and family gatherings are around Christmas and New Year can’t be far behind. Wouldn’t you just love to show up with a smile that knocks ‘em dead? You can with porcelain veneers. Bonita Springs cosmetic dentist Dr. Rich Gilbert, Dr. Lacy Gilbert and Dr. Genevieve Garris have used these trusted dental wonders to conceal cosmetic flaws and enhance the smiles of many people in the area. Let them do the same for you!

What are Porcelain Veneers?

Like other kinds of veneers, porcelain or dental veneers are thin coverings that create a new look. They are made of very thin layers of high-grade dental porcelain that are adhesively bonded to the facial side of teeth that show when you smile. Veneers are designed individually so that each tooth looks natural, both in terms of size and shape. Moreover, you can go as white as you like with porcelain veneers, which are far less likely to stain that your natural teeth.

What Can Veneers Correct?

With porcelain veneers, Bonita Springs residents can conceal a number of different cosmetic imperfections. And unlike other dental treatments that might require several visits to our office, porcelain veneers can usually be completed over the course of only two appointments.

Porcelain veneers can correct:

  • Teeth that are chipped or slightly cracked
  • Fractured teeth
  • Teeth that are unusually worn and uneven
  • Permanently stained or discolored teeth that cannot be treated with teeth whitening
  • Slightly rotated (crooked) teeth
  • Stubby or otherwise misshaped teeth
  • Teeth that have unsightly gaps between them

How Do I Get Porcelain Veneers?

After having an initial consultation with one of the dentists at Pelican Landing Dental, we’ll schedule two appointments that are spaced about two weeks apart. At the first, your teeth need to be prepared to have veneers. First, a small amount of enamel is filed off of each tooth. This represents a permanent alteration to your teeth, so your decision to have veneers requires a commitment to always having coverings on your teeth. But once you see how great your smile looks with veneers, you’ll never want to go back!

After prepping your teeth, the Bonita Springs cosmetic dentist will attach a temporary set of veneers for you to wear while our dental lab custom crafts your new smile. At the second appointment, the temporaries are removed and your permanent porcelain veneers are bonded to your teeth. With regular brushing and flossing, scheduled dental checkups and taking care not to bite on something too hard, your veneers can give you years and years of happy smiles!
