The husband and wife dentist team of Drs. Rich and Lacy Gilbert at Pelican Landing Dental live by the motto, “healthy and teeth and gums for life.” They understand that in order to fulfill that motto, their practice needs to provide a variety of restorative dentistry services. And while we know that our patients do their very best to maintain optimal oral health with daily brushing and flossing—and we certainly do our best in the office—there are bound to be times when your teeth need repair or restoration. Here are the restorative dentistry services we offer in Bonita Springs, FL.

Fillings and Bonding

By far the most common restorative procedure we perform is a filling. Oral bacteria presents a constant threat of tooth decay, so when you have a cavity we can effectively restore your tooth with a white filling made of composite resin. This same material is also used to reshape a tooth that is chipped, slightly cracked or permanently discolored.

Crowns

In cases where a cavity requires more than a filling, or when a deep crack threatens the integrity of a tooth, Dr. Rich or Dr. Lacy can place a dental crown over the tooth. Made of strong dental porcelain, a crown preserves the tooth and restores the tooth’s natural form and function.

Root Canal Therapy

Normally, the interior of a tooth is well protected from oral bacteria by the surrounding layers of enamel and dentin. However, an untreated cavity or other type of tooth damage can lead to bacterial infection in the pulp chamber and root canals of a tooth. In this case, root canal therapy removes the infection, disinfects the chamber and canals and preserves the tooth with a biocompatible substance to fill the space. As a final step, the tooth is protected with a dental crown.

Dental Implants

One or more missing teeth can lead to a number of negative consequences, not the least of which are malnutrition, a lack of self-confidence and a sagging facial appearance. Dental implants remedy all of these by replacing both the root and crown of a missing tooth. Implants can also be used to secure a partial denture or full dentures.

Dentures

Dentures have long been an affordable and aesthetically pleasing option for tooth replacement. Today, they are also more natural looking and better performing than ever before. Drs. Gilbert can design dentures that fit comfortably on your gums and give you the ability to enjoy a variety of foods without worrying about slipping or clicking.
